I’ve spent years guiding groups across this area — from Echo Point’s lookouts to Jenolan Caves and the Megalong Valley — and trust me, the Blue Mountains are more than a day trip. It’s where city stress just melts away, a vast amphitheatre of rock walls, rain mists and forest fragrance.


Just 90 minutes from Circular Quay via the Great Western Highway, the Blue Mountains is part of the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area, a massive wilderness reserve covering more than a million hectares that extends as far as Wollemi National Park. It’s a blend of valleys, rainforest and rugged ridges inhabited by over 400 kinds of Aussie wildlife, including curious wallabies, shy dingoes and the famous lyrebird.
